YPMRC - Kicking up a winter storm……

ypmdf1

What a fantastic couple of weeks!

It's normally as quiet as a church mouse during this time of year, with a distinct lull in activities between the mad D&D bash and start of the new calendar year, but it's quite clear that this hasn't been the case in 2013.

Reports from the main organising crew from the magnificent stand at Motorcycle Live suggest that we picked up over 40 serious enquires about racing with us in the future, with a further four potential riders pitching up at Brands Hatch for the Bemsee open day event too. Looks like we didn't spend as much time at the bar catching up with each other this time around, and actually used the time to drum up a few more potential race recruits – good job fellas!!

Anyway, if you're reading this and you're one of the "Forty-Four-Or-More" thanks for your interest. We've got your details, and we'll be in touch shortly to follow up on anything necessary, such as book you for a slot on the club bike, help you turn the old road bike that's in the back of your dads garage into something that can be out on track in a race with us, or point you in the direction of a ready-prepped race bike that might be for sale.

At the same time we hope to have the race schedule confirmed soon too, so watch this space for news on that as and when we get the nod from Bemsee Towers. Needless to say, if you want to be racing at Brands, Silverstone, Oulton, Donington, Cadwell and Snetterton in 2014 you're in the right place!

Let the planning commence……

With the hangover from the end of season dinner and dance finally under control it's now time to start thinking properly about next year. Is your bike ready? ACU licence sorted?? Bemsee club membership paid???

You can do all this (and more.....) at the Bemsee Open Day at Brands Hatch on December the 8th.

Get along to the Kentagon Bar to hook up with a few of the key people from the management team at Bemsee Towers, and let them help you with all the necessary admin etc. You can even get your eye test completed on the day, so it's a real one stop shop.

You'll find the YPM's well represented too, so come and have a chat about bikes, riding gear, the race schedule, the race school and anything else you can think of! We're not easy to miss, but if your struggling have a look in the bar...........

Everyone is welcome at this event – new Rookies, old stagers, championship winners even! If you found out about us at Motorcycle Live at the NEC this is your chance to make the first steps towards joining us on the grid in 2014.

NEC - Motorcycle Live Update

ypmstand

With the show just about at the halfway point, we can report a frenzy of activity – punters galore and we've even had a few celebrities from the wider world of motorcycle racing pitching up to take a look.

The stand looks amazing, with one national journalist reporting "I've never seen any other racing class have any kind of presence at a show of this profile, let alone such a professionally presented stand as the one YPM has. Normally a whole club would struggle to manage that presence, let alone a single class. Amazing". OK, it's a quote from a national journalist that used to share the track with us (take a bow MCN's Tony Hoare.....) but who's quibbling??

The promotional leaflets are flying out like confetti at a royal wedding, and dozens of punters have filled out enquiry forms too. If the level of interest on the stand is anything to go by the YPM website and forum could be going into melt-down by the weekend!! We even signed up a rider to have a go on the new 350 club bike in 2014 - and we haven't even announced that we've got one of those yet!!

Yep, the DFDS Seaways Yamaha Past Masters hits the big time at the end of November, with a formal stand at Motorcycle Live event at the NEC in Birmingham.

The show runs from the 23rd of November to the 1st of December, and you'll find your favourite 2-stroke race action represented in all its glory on stand 2C65. There'll be promotional materials, flyers and a video presentation, plus riders and a couple of the best bikes too, so pop along for a chat.

On the back of this booking we have a large number of advance tickets to shift, and at £17.00 each including postage you're looking at a saving over other advance ticket sales as we aren't charging a booking fee. If you're going to the show, please buy an advance ticket, and please buy it from YPMRC!!

You can email your ticket order to Pete "Fish" Fishwick via: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

And The Winner Is...

As well as the final championship positions, the various YPMRC awards were handed out at Brands as part of the end of season party, although how club head honcho Pete "Fish" Fishwick managed to get anyone to listen while there was free beer and hog roast is beyond me!

Most Improved Rider: Doug "BBQ" Edmondson

Doug has proved his worth this year, he's turned a semi-dud bike into a race winner (along with assistance from his Wave Racing support crew) and beaten tough opposition on track in wet and dry conditions. At the same time he's always one of the first to offer to help with the club promotion days and spares.

Best Bike: Dean "Deano" Stimpson

A difficult choice this year, even harder than normal. Although Dean's bike (or at least part of it.....) may have won the best bike award previously you can't ignore the extra effort taken to ensure both reliability and sharp end on track performance. Bolts were replaced with lighter bolts, new bearings were replaced with newer bearings, clean paint was stripped and replaced with newer paint, suspension was updated and the engine developed - nothing was left untouched. It was that good it won the overall 2014 YPMRC championship too!
