Leaking carbs

Postby Ells » Wed Mar 16, 2016 9:35 pm

I cleaned the carbs before starting her up and the bike is dribbling fuel on the garage floor after the engine has stopped. It looks like its coming down the overflow pipes. The carbs have had no parts refreshed for the last three years.

Is it worth refreshing the internals (needles, nozzles, floats and that bit that shuts the fuel off)?

Is there a kit with all the bits to refresh the carbs or is that just wishful thinking.

Cheers

You could try eBay item number 252170845371, but I haven't so wouldn't vouch for the "quality"...

Personally, I'd get onto Andy Tempest and get a couple new OEM float valve assys, as these are most likely the guilty party if you overflows are being worked.

Common problem. Tap the carbs with a socket bar, it can sometimes stop the issue. Firing the motor up can also stop it. Moose's bike did this all the time even after changing all the parts inside.

The rubber on the valve stops sealing so the float bowls overflow. You should check the area they sit in as a bit of shit in there will cause this.

Use an auto centre punch to remove the pin for the floats without damaging them.

Also check the o ring on the brass valve housing. Often overlooked!
